Nothing bothers mom more than a dog left in a hot car.
Here is a good article from the UK
We don't understand it!
Mom has printed these flyers from the
After she says all her HBO words she places the flyer on the windshield of the car.
We wait til the owner returns or we call the authorities if necessary.
It seems as though every time we are out we see a dog in a car.
Help!
and spread the word
Thank you
Gracias
Merci
Danke
Peace,
Lily & Edward
I'm sooooo with you on that front, my mom and my granny were running behind a couple through the whole supermarket who "furgot" the dog in the car. They fortunately agreed and at least they parked the car on a shady place. My momma loves it to have me always on her side, but when she shops for groceries and it is hot outside she is brave enough to go out without me.

We don't get it either. How can people be so totally stupid? In France, a big problem is that most supermarkets have absolutely no shade in their parking lots either. There is just one in our town that has a covered car park and that is where #1 shops in the summer if she has Tommy with her.

That's one of our mom's big pet peeves, too!

If my mom see a pet in a car in hot weather she calls the police and waits. If the people return before the police she gives them a lesson in what can happen. Some people have not brains and little hearts.

Ah, hot cars, nooooo! Too many people still leave their dogs in them.

When mum was on her way down to Tucson in 2002, she was waiting for her friend's husband in Slydell, LA, so that he could show her the way to their house!! She said she had the cats (Alpha, Omega and Lucky) in the car. She kept going outside the store every 10 minutes or so to run the a/c till the car was VERY cool, then went back in the store for a while. One time when she was in the car running the a/c, she looked up to see TWO animal control trucks. A woman was standing there and tried to say she left the cats in the car for at least 30 minutes. Mum responding that if she had been standing there that long, she would have seen mum coming out and running the a/c. The animal control guys believed mum because the cats did not look at all stressed out, and just gave her a warning!!! So, it is not always as it seems!!!

It's a terrible thing to do, leaving a dog in a hot car :(
ReplyDeleteoh do we 200% agree. Mom says some two leggers need to pass a competency test before adopting a furry friend

makes us cross to see,xx Speedy
ReplyDeleteOur mom gets all freaked out also, she usually looks for the owner and then calls the police....she just hates it ...it keeps her up at night worrying. stella rose
ReplyDeleteYes, we report cars with doggies in them too!

We were upset to hear that a man who broke a window to get a dog out of a hot car was arrested for doing it. We are glad that some states are passing laws that allow people to help hot little dogs in cars. No one should be arrested for saving a life.
ReplyDeleteIt makes mom's heart hurt that people still leave pets in the car on hot days. It's just not at all right, and she doesn't understand how ANYONE can think it's an ok thing to do.
ReplyDeleteGood for your Mom - maybe she will wake some sense up in those dumb peeps.

In our town, if you see a dog in a hot car you call the police and they will break into the car and get the dog!

WE soo agree with you. It is better to leave us home and safe then take a chance in a hot car. Bravo for your mom and her signs!

A while back, the police somewhere around here broke out a car window to rescue a dog from a hot car. It was what the car owner deserved.
ReplyDeleteDumb peep. Hopefully your mom's note will educate the person and make them a "smarter" peep.
ReplyDeleteMom has to stop on her commute home each week (it's a 3-4 hour drive) so she can use the rest room. She leaves the truck running with the ac on and locked. A sign goes in the window. "Tall redhead in bathroom with other key, back in 3 minutes - if concerned please come get me".

DeleteWe don't see many dogs in cars this time of year, thankfully.
ReplyDeletewe have posters we keep in our car to place on windshields and mom carries one of those window hammers to break glass if need be.
ReplyDeleteFor the life of me I can't comprehend why everyone hasn't gotten the message yet! Leaving a dog in a hot car for just a short time can be fatal! I love that Mom leaves flyers on cars, that is so awesome! I rarely see dogs left in hot cars but if I do I will call the police for sure.

Great post and we're 100% with ya on spreading the word. It's a great idea to print out those posters and leave them on the windshield of the car or hand it to the oaf (I mean person).
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we love it when your Mom says those HBO words:-) cause we know she's about to say something really important!
Actually Dakota has a super informative post about that very topic today: http://dakotasden.net/2015/07/17/protect-your-pets-from-the-hot-weather-with-these-tips-from-the-michigan-humane-society/
ReplyDeleteWe just love that your Mama is so vigilant!!

We're not allowed to go anywhere when it's VERY hot. And SHE always puts the windows way down, even in cold weather. Good for your Mama.
ReplyDeleteYay for how your mama feels,, my moms feel the same as yours!

Oh it burns Moms butt to see this happen. She calls the authorities if the owners don't come out in a timely manner.
ReplyDeleteHoomans can be so ignorant. We wish they'd sit in a hot car with the windows rolled up for 10 minutes and see just how it feels!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots♥

If you love your pet so much that you have to take it with you wherever you go, WHY do people feel compelled to attempt to kill them in hot cars? It makes zero sense.
ReplyDeleteIf we ever see a pet inside a hot car we call the police right away!
ReplyDeleteIt's like the 4th of July, no matter how many times you publicize that animals are terrified of fireworks and to keep them safe indoors, so many don't pay attention. Same with locking a dog in a hot car, too many are not paying attention. :(
