Lily vs. Motorcycle

I'm a dead duck.
My face will be featured on a milk carton as "lost" soon.
Mom will change the locks.
All mom keeps saying is something about a heart attack and
 being a nervous wreck.
I can't believe my NEW FLEXI leash snapped Ben.
We need to investigate this thing.
Yep, snapped like a piece of string.
I don't think you should have chased the motorcycle Lily.
I told you to stay. You kept running.
You got me in big trouble Flexi Leash.
Mom will never buy you again.
Benny & Lily

Pee S.
We were walking in a busy beach parking lot when my Lily saw a motorcycle.
When she went to dart after it, the Flexi leash snapped..she took off at least 500 feet or more.
Mom almost died right there.
She spoke of heart attacks and nerves being a wreck. Of being sick and shaky.(drama)
The cycle stopped, Lily jumped on the man and kissed him. The man held Lil til we got there.
Me and mom couldn't help but kiss Lily.

The lady gave in and bought Lil a Flexi for "up to a 44 pound" kid.
ut oh....we just had a flashback

  2. So glad she's ok! We actually had a couple of problems with our standard clip leash; we never consider how unsturdy that little button that clips the leash is and it came undone 2 times. We reinforced it with another circle clip so it can't come undone. I had never even thought about the idea the clip could come undone, or a leash could break.

  3. Wow Lily, you are a strong girl. Stanzie broke the 'D' ring, right out of her leather collar once when a deer crossed our path.
Good thing you are movin' up to the big girl leash!

  6. Momma says her flexi snapped once when she was walking Angus the airedale and she FREAKED and wouldn't use one like forever after that but now she has started using one with PeeWee and I am going to tell her to upgrade to a stronger one for sure.

  7. Oooh, that must have been so scary. We wear those darn choke collars when we walk. Mom says she can't manage three flexi handles at one time, and the collars we have won't break.

That was one very nice motorcycle man.

  12. So gald this ended OK, I must say I walk George with a bog standered lead and change to the flexi lead when on open ground, it worries me that sometimes the catch comes off and if that was by a road, well I don't like to think about it.
He has learnt that he can only run around when I have swapped the leads over, and knows its back to, no pull when the short lead is on.

  15. Kendra's broke, too. But that was because Bella kept biting it and pulling Kendra along. Scary that it could snap, though. Bella also chases anything on wheels.

  16. Boy that is scary, Lily. I'm so glad that you are OK. When we read the post title we were so scared for you!

When I was about 6 months old I broke through a leather collar to go greet 2 big doggies. My mom person says I was very lucky that they were friendly.

  17. OMG talk about heart attack city! Mom would have died on the spot! Thank goodness the motorcycle man held on to Lily until your mom got there.

PS try not to give your mom another heart attack. Moms don't do well with that sort of stress.

  26. *shudder* I'm glad you're okay, Lilly!

We will NEVER buy flexi leads, for a lot of reasons, but one of the worst is that we've heard too many stories of hounds who get startled and if the handle gets dropped, they keep running because they're scared of the sound coming behind them.

  41. Yeah, they are not kidding about those weight limits for sure! Momma uses the 'belt' kind that don't hurt people's legs when they get wrapped around them too (why are peoples always getting tangled in leashes??). I don't think they are as likely to break unless the whole thing comes off the reel. One time I took off and broke the retractor part but was still attached to momma. She would have had a heart attack too. So glad everyone is ok!
