Hi Friends,
we were just thinking. What's in a word besides the alphabets.
Did you ever hear the bipedals say
"You treat me like a dog."
Isn't that suppose to be good?
or
"He is a real bully." ahhh..exuse me?
or
"It's a dog eats dog world."
How about, "You lucky dog."
Thats cool cause we say that too.
BUT,
"You are going to be in the doghouse."
And what's wrong with our house?
or
"Doggy paddle."
Are those humans making fun of us?
I could probably do the backstroke if I wanted to.
or
"My stomach is growling." Why don't stomachs meow?
"Its raining cats and dogs." Really? We are the only doggys out here.
I haven't seen not one kitty kat yet.
OR
this is the worse yet...
"She is ugly as a dog ." OR "What a dog."
That is down right mean. I think we are purrty cute.
Well, anyway, we were just thinking.
Have a snuggly day.
Burps & gasers,
Benny & Lily
Those are very good points!!! We do seemed to get shafted in the slang department don't we!! That needs to be fixed!!! We need to start a revolution to change the way dogs are treated in grammar!!
ReplyDelete~hugs~
Lilo
You guys are the cutest! For Bullys you are pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what DOES 'dog eat dog' mean, anyway? I don't eat dog; I eat filet mignon. Medium rare, thankyouverymuch!

Hehe, Goof job Benny and Lily! You are very smart pups, whats wrong with those humans, and why do they use all those dog phrases? I'll try to figure it out and let you know.
ReplyDeleteDaisy Mae
those are such good points. I want to be a loved dog in my next life :)
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. you are great thinkers - that is certainly food for thought. If you come up with the answers, be sure to let us all know.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
You make some very valid points! I agree with you! Or what about "he won't stop hounding me"? What's up with that? I don't even know if it's supposed to be good or bad!
ReplyDeleteBunny
You have a very good argument there guys..We think maybe there should be a senate committee to review this!!
ReplyDeleteSmileys & Snuggles!

Hi Ben & Lil,
ReplyDeleteYeah. What is up with all those phrases? And what about "dog days of summer". What does that mean exactly. My mom says it has something to do with the dog star, Sirius. All I know is it's been hot as hec here. So we are staying in the house enjoying the AC!

You tell them Benny and Lil! And they wonder why we do the famous head turn when they say these things..
ReplyDeleteHere are a few more for your list that might technically be true. "Top Dog", because after all, we do love to show off. "Dog Tired", studies show we can sleep 18 hours a day. "She/he is like a dog chewing its bone". Did someone say BONE????
Sighs (Kitty), and Snorts (Coco)
You two sure came up with a ton of great things to think about!
ReplyDeleteBenny and Lily!! Yous are the Philosophers of 'da Frenchies!! And the Puggies!! And Alls Doggies for 'Dat Matters!! Wells Said!!

Gosh, that is a lot of thinking. You two better go have a rest - your heads will hurt.
ReplyDeletePut it all down to humans - nothing they do makes much sense to us.
All those words when woofing works for us.

What a great point! Why is it that way??? Hmmm. I think we should make up our own sayings about humans like that.
ReplyDelete~Milly and Shelby

ReplyDeleteWhat is up with those words? Great post..

So that's why you two always look like you are deep thought...now I understand why! Hee! Hee! I do a lot of thinking too and I have wondered about those very same things myself but no one has given me a straight answer yet! Today, my mom said, "These are the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER", from the looks of her sweaty face (it was in the upper 90's here) I could tell that DOG DAYS are not on mom's TOP 5 LIST! Soooo I hope you get some good answers soon beclaws I am very confused about those mean and rude comments about dogs!
ReplyDeleteXOXO...Daisy the Coonhound
You are quite philosophical. I should bring you both to my classroom.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lily and Benny!
ReplyDeleteSure you had a busy thinking day!
Dog is a word that many people here apply to lots of situations... none of them good! Hmmm...
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Oh those phrases are awful and very confusing. I prefer to go to my happy place when the humans start throwing about such remarks. Ugly as a dog! Humph! As if!
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Mango
Benny???
ReplyDeleteIs yous over at Stella, Gunther and Betty's house?????
Josie
Woo two need to get together with Steven Wright!
ReplyDeleteHugz&Khysses,
Khyra
You are very insightful today. We can start our own phrases: 'Smart as a dog' and 'Cute as a dog'!
ReplyDeleteWyatt
Mmmm, it's very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of saying with "DOG" in Japanese too, and almost all of them have negative meanings.
For example...
we say "Loser dog" for Loser (why does it have to be a dog??)
Hey, dogs always have been, are, and will be human's best friend, and human treat us like this universally!?
Maybe we should make up some words like... "dog smile" means the happieset man in the world!
Bunta
What an interesting post! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos that illustrate the different sayings. well done! :)
Love, Bella.
Hmmm, you have given us a lot to think about.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, humans do use dog related phrases a lot. Although in our case - we dogs who have blogs - being treated like a dog is pretty good!
Love all the pics, you are lucky dogs to have your own swimming pool.
Wags,Dip Bridge and Elliot xx
I hear ya guys! The English language can be SO misleading sometimes!
ReplyDeleteVery profound! I can't wait to use these to mess with Dave's head!
ReplyDeletePlay bows,
Zim
Very wise observations! You two are waaaay too cute to be called anything negative!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beauty AND Brains! We're impressed. And we totally agree! Thanks for those things that made us go hmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteThe Road Dogs
Those are some really good observations! The English language needs to be changed. Dogs are a positive thing!
